Customers frequently highlight the warm, hospitable service and the accommodating nature of the staff, who often go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant dining experience. Occasional longer wait times are noted but generally considered worthwhile given the quality of the meals. Overall, Viet Thao is regarded as a charming, unpretentious spot that consistently delivers satisfying, flavorful Vietnamese food in a welcoming atmosphere.
Simple, small, unassuming Vietnamese restaurant but the food was amazing and very fresh. We were looking for a place that served warm soup for my sick mother and this place was very accommodating and kind. We arrived shortly after it opened. 30 min later it got super busy. It must be very popular. Great price. The owner was super nice and speaks English. Highly recommend.
We stumbled onto this restaurant by accident after the concert. It was very close to closing time (we arrived at 10:15) but the owner was very very nice and gave us a table. I am Vietnamese and my expectations are very high when it comes to Vietnamese foods, especially after all the Vietnamese restaurants we visited while traveling throughout Europe. We ordered Pho Bo (beef noodles), goi xoai tom (mango shrimp salad) and banh chuoi (steam banana in coconut sauce) All three dishes were delicious. The pho has plenty of soft and tender brisket meat. The broth was clear and very flavorful. The mango salad was just as tasty. And OMG the banana dessert was perfect. My wife is diabetic and she wants to get a second serving. Overall, we highly recommended VietThao ( the name of the owner's parents) if you are looking for authentic Vietnamese foods in Vienna. Thank you Thúy and Phước for a delicious dinner. PS. We came back twice afterward for lunch and dinner. The banh xeo was very good. But the heo quay was the best.
The best Banh Xeo (yellow crepe) I’ve eaten! And this is coming from a Southeast Asian person. It was big and crispy as it should. I’m so sad to see this is temporarily closed, does anyone have any update?
Really worth the hype A perfect dinner for chilly Vienna in March. Had the beef pho- amazing, comparable with what I had in Ha Noi The food took quite long to serve, but definetely worth the wait. The waiter is so polite and accomodating
Even tho we were in Vienna for only 4 days, we came to Viet Thao twice. One reason is the food which is very delicious, savoury and visually appealing!! The other reason is the host/waiter who is very welcoming, hospitable, charming and funny. He explained everything about the food and how to eat it. The price is also quite reasonable. Everything is super clean, and it's done with much love!!! We will definitely come back here next time we are in Vienna.
Fantastic place! If you’re in Vienna, this is the Vietnamese place to go. Phuoc was great and the hospitality made the place even more special. We ended up going twice during our stay! Would definitely recommend the Banh Xeo and mango salad.
Having lived in Europe for over 4 years, I've dined at numerous Vietnamese restaurants, but this one truly stands out. Every dish served was a delightful surprise, exuding the taste of authentic home cooking. Their beef broth was particularly notable, boasting a richness that's hard to find. I can feel that they put lots of care to their food. A genuine gem for anyone seeking an authentic Vietnamese culinary experience.
